WORLD NEWS TOMORROW ? JERUSALEM ? The Israeli military said militants fired an anti-tank missile at an Israeli tank deployed along the border with the Gaza Strip early Wednesday. There were no reports of casualties on either side in the attack, which took place near the Kissufim Crossing in central Gaza.
Army Radio reported that an active protection system fitted on the tank intercepted the incoming missile, which exploded in midair, although the military was checking the possibility that the projectile detonated prematurely.
Tuesday evening, Palestinians in Gaza fired two volleys of mortar shells into Israel. There were no reports of injuries or damage.
In a separate incident earlier in the morning, Israeli troops were caught up in a firefight between Egyptian security forces and presumed drug smugglers along the Egyptian border.
