ACS is responsible for the development of a Health Enterprise System for Medicaid of California (Medi-Cal). The Technical Writing Specialist prepares text, including developing, writing, editing, rewriting and/or formatting technical and non-technical material for publication. Examples of products include, but are not limited to, reports, manuals, bulletins, newsletters, instructional material, and Process documentation. The Technical Writing Specialist is an individual producer who applies a comprehensive, in-depth knowledge of publication concepts and practices and work on assignments that vary widely in scope and complexity from moderate to high.
As part of the Operations Transition (OTT) Team the Technical Writing Specialist will collaborate with the Cultural Change Management (CCM) Team and Business Change Management (BCM) team, supporting all documentation and publication efforts. The Technical Writing Specialist will be expected to work closely with the other parts of the Operations Transition support staff.
This position will require a high degree of flexibility and a passion to drive change the countrys largest Medicaid system. We are looking for people comfortable in meeting with and presenting to Clients, Leadership, Colleagues, Coworkers, Technical and operational staff. Work collaboratively with the client, with minimum supervision and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities
? Participates in ACS-required employee training
? Participates in Legacy system training
? Participates in Health Enterprise training
? Assists with updating of Business Operations Procedure Manuals as part of transition to the Health Enterprise System
? Assists in Operational Readiness Testing, as required
? Compiles, organizes, rewrites, and edits source material provided by technical and non-technical staff, vendors and manufacturers, etc. Provides publication direction to ACS Operational Business areas in development of business area documentation and coordinates efforts to ensure completeness of final product. Provides expertise regarding presentation, including organization, format, layout, and style.
? Edits documentation for accuracy, clarity, coherence, and consistency, referring to accepted standards of editorial practice. Rewrites material and/or works with originator(s) to affect necessary correction(s) and modifications.
? Prepares or assists in the preparation of detailed instructions, outlines, and assignment schedules for word processing, graphics, Coordinates workflow between documentation originator(s) and publication to ensure professional product is completed per specifications, clarify instructions, etc.
? Reviews final product for physical presentation and intelligibility to ensure quality of final product. Seeks timely correction as appropriate.
? Reviews existing publications for purpose of modifying, revising, and/or rewriting and works with originators to determine timely, cost-effective approaches.
? Participates in reviews of publications.
? Keeps apprised of developments in field of expertise to ensure currency.
? Confers with subject matter experts to obtain information or clarify facts in a publication.
? Coordinates feedback documents for consolidation, proper distribution and timely completion.
? Responsible to maintain all Transition Schedule items pertaining to operational business area documentation and deliverables.
May perform one of more of the following additional duties: ? Writes technical reports, brochures and/or manuals for internal documentation and/or publications.
? Utilizes current graphic design technology and computer software packages to produce reports, manuals, proposals, instructional material, catalogues, hardware/software documentation and graphic presentations.
? Designs creative, image-enhancing artwork and layout for materials used in marketing and promoting the companys services.
All other duties as assigned.
Preferred Experience/Qualifications ? Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
? Minimum three years experience in technical and/or non-technical writing and publications demonstrating familiarity with a comprehensive range of publication assignments
? Experience with the following software is preferred: Adobe Create Suite, SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, and MS Project.
? Experience working in Medi-Cal, State Medicaid, Medicare or Commercial Health Insurance or other healthcare environment.
? Ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with both clients and co-workers
? Ability to effectively work independently and in a cross functional team environment
? Demonstrated analysis skills and use of logic and creative problem solving methods to
investigate and resolve difficult problems with effective solutions
? Consult with internal clients and subject-matter-experts to assess training needs and propose learning solutions.
